Who is giving you online marketing advice?
Have you noticed that there are a lot of people today who claim to be Internet marketing pros?
Internet marketing; this ain’t Kansas anymore Toto!
There are all types in this space from the guys who can bore you to tears with geekspeak to the “feel good” types who preach the need to “build a dialog with your customers” and “get more socially involved”, etc. etc.
You don’t want Twitter fans, you want customers!
Don’t get me wrong, having a bucket full of Twitter followers and Facebook fans is great and can mean more business over time, but you need paying customers…NOW! And guess what, when those Twitter and Facebook friends decide to buy something they will SEARCH online for what they want.
Advertising your business is a necessity, but where you focus your ad dollars is paramount. “Google’s ad revenue is bigger than that of the entire U.S. print industry.” (Source)
Let that sink in…if you are going to advertise and you know your customers will search online for what they want, where should you be advertising?
Search marketing is where it’s at!
We know that people will search for everything before they buy, even if you are their very best friend forever on Facebook. Making sure that your website ranks well in search results is more important than having a bunch of friends who liked pictures of your cat.
One of the best ways to boost your website in search results is to have links from LOCAL authority websites pointing to your site. Accomplishing this is one of the primary goals of the Flathead Guide. Your listing in the Flathead Guide can actually help your website rank higher in search results.
Search or social marketing, which is best?
Both! Search engines monitor our social activity so it is a contributing factor in your website ranking. Basically, they want to know if anyone other than you is talking about your business, so engagement is important.
Mobile is a game changer!
The meteoric rise in smartphones and Tablet PCs now means that 25% to 40% of the traffic to your website is coming from mobile devices. Facebook has nearly half of its 150 million daily visits from mobile. (Source)
Your customers are searching on their smartphones and tablets and search engines are now providing different search results for mobile devices. Again, this is where the Flathead Guide can help you attract more customers.
Your listing in the Flathead Guide is optimized for search and is mobile friendly. Every listing functions like a stand-alone mini website with an unlimited text description, photos, videos, all your contact information and virtually anything you can include on a regular website.
Who is giving you online marketing advice?
Take it from a 20+ year Internet marketing professional, spend your ad dollars where your customers hang out- and today they are on their smartphones! Add your business to the Flathead Guide and do something good for your website - and your business.

This makes so much sense. I for one am tired of Facebook, it is such a waste of time. And you are right, we want customers and don’t give a crap about fans and useless friends on facebook. What you said make more sense than anything I have read about online marketing. I am already listed with your guide, and now I remember why. Thanks for the good advice.
