Glacier National Park’s “Going To The Sun Road” now open.
Going To The Sun Road is plowed and ready for you!
This eagerly anticipated announcement was made yesterday when the famous Going To The Sun Road was opened for vehicle travel. Due to the varying amounts of snow each year, the open date can change, but the target is June 21st.
How did Going To The Sun Road get its name?
Most people are not aware how “Going To The Sun Road” got its name. It was named during the 1933 dedication at Logan Pass and the name came from Going-to-the-Sun Mountain, which is nearby. See other FAQs here.
Remember that you don’t need to mess with traffic, take one of the famous red tour buses or the shuttle. Let someone else do the driving while you enjoy the scenery.
